Now That Is A Miracle!

If I were to ask you to define a miracle, what would your answer be? The reason I ask this question is because Jesus once said that, “The miracles I do in my fathers name speak for me.”(Jn.10:25) Again in Acts chapter 2 at the coming of the Holy Spirit, Peter would challenge the people with the fact that they had seen Jesus do miracles and wonders. “Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him as you yourselves know.” (Acts 2:22) So what was it that convinced the thousands to repent and be baptized that day? What were the miracles and why were they critical to the people before they would believe?
Some are easy like walking on the water, healing the sick, feeding the 5000 and raising the dead to just name a few. However, in the Bible we get glimpses into the lives and minds of the disciples as they each tried to deal with the reality of who Jesus really was in the face of such miracles. One glimpse tells a great deal about the disciples and it is found in Luke chapter 11. After seeing all the great miracles that Jesus had done they came to Jesus and asked him to teach them which great miracle... How to pray! The way Jesus prayed was the greatest miracle of all because it was the power to do everything that they had seen. When Jesus prayed things happened and God answered.
I might be mistaken but I honestly believe that when I opened the message with the question of what is a miracle, none of you listed prayer. Nothing Jesus did, and none of the wonders were as great a revelation as the truth that God really does love us unconditionally and He desires us to ask for and believe in miracles. Nothing is impossible for God so go ahead and ask. In Joshua 10:12-14 Joshua asked God to have the sun and moon stand still for nearly a day and it happened. So was the miracle that God stopped the sun and moon, or that Joshua had the faith to ask God for such a thing and expect it to happen? Need a miracle, then just go ahead and ask!
