Heart of the Matter
What is Biblical Pastoral Christian Counseling?
I, David Stephens am a Pastoral Counselor who is also employed at Lakewood Baptist Church as Children’s Ministry Pastor. My training is a combination of Biblical based pastoral counseling, and marriage and family therapy. My graduate training alongside mentorship have and continue to season my approach with individuals, couples, families and groups. My approach is grounded in the word of God as our primary authority allowing one to get to the heart of the matter in counseling. This bible based approach to the emotional, spiritual, and physical parts of our person will help the counselee to reveal how God has created the heart, mind, and body to work together for good for those who love him thus impacting one’s experiences in life and relationship for good. This process is a chipping away at the rough exterior that we build around our heart. It is a painful process that leads to deeper and lasting change. This process brings freedom for you personally, and in your relationships. Please understand, that if your only goal in counseling is for the relief of the symptoms that brought you to my office, then Biblical Pastoral Christian Counseling is not the best fit for achieving those goals.

GriefShare Support Group Monday June 8 - September 14 7:00 - 9:00
We will be starting a GriefShare Support Group this summer which will meet in the Bible Fellowship Room S210 on the top floor of the South Building.
Registration Fee: $15 (covers the cost of workbook)
What is GriefShare?
A support group that meets weekly for 14 weeks. It is a VIDEO SEMINAR that leads into small group discussions and a workbook that you purchase to take home for personal journaling and study exercises that reinforce the weekly session topics.
This is a wonderful program for all who have or are currently suffering grief at any stage. It is non-denominational and features biblical concepts for healing. It is a pathway for you to create the new normal that God desires for you to have in and through your grief coming out on the other side with a joy that is infectious and draws people to Jesus by your story.
Please reach out to Pastor David Stephens to sign-up for GriefShare or Counseling.
